First thank you for providing such in depth information. I've downloaded the disk counter code and pasted it but when i verify it i get a error on line 135  Arduino: 1.8.1 (Windows 10), Board: "Arduino/Genuino Uno"

:135: error: macro "interrupts" passed 1 arguments, but takes just 0

        _after 50 timer interrupts (=0.5seconds) the number of pulses is calulated
not shore if you have time to bother with this but thank you :)

Me: Would be nice if you could tell me exactly what "disc counter code" you mean (file name?). I have done more than one project using encoder discs.

why dont you share the arduino codes you have written to calculate the rotation counter.
those are very usefull for people like me who are beginners.
