I really like the explanation! This cleared up a lot of my confusion. However, I think the salt bridge mechanism is explained wrong. I think the positive potassium cations of the salt bridge should be flowing into the cathode while the negative sulfate ions of the salt bridge should be flowing into the anode. The sulfate anion from the cathode does not flow into anode, except if using a membrane divider.
Me: During discharging, electrons flow from cathode (Zn, left side) to the anode (Cu, right side). To counterbalance the load, negatively charged ions flow from the anode to the cathode, as shown on figure 3.
